Four MRT Stations Within a 9-Minute Walk
Four MRT stations on four lines are within a 9-minute walk of Sophia Road, which gives The Collective at One Sophia a choice of routes into the city rather than a single line. Walking times are measured from 1 Sophia Road.
Bencoolen MRT (DT21) is the nearest, 450m and a 6-minute walk away, and Rochor MRT (DT13) is 500m and a 7-minute walk. Both are on the Downtown Line.
Dhoby Ghaut MRT (NS24, NE6, CC1) is 600m and an 8-minute walk away. It is the interchange for the North South, North East and Circle lines, so three lines are reached from the one station.
Bras Basah MRT (CC2), on the Circle Line, is 700m and a 9-minute walk.
Shopping and Dining

Plaza Singapura sits beside Dhoby Ghaut MRT where Orchard Road begins, and ION Orchard and Orchard Central continue the shopping along Orchard Road. In the other direction, Bugis Junction and Bugis+ sit in the Bugis district, and Raffles City, Suntec City and Marina Square lie further out towards the Civic District and Marina Centre.
Shopping and dining also sit within One Sophia itself. Its commercial component, an office and retail podium with 127 strata retail units, shares the site with the two residential blocks, and the retail belongs to One Sophia rather than to the residences.
Nature and Green Space

Fort Canning Park, the hill park at the edge of the Civic District, is the precinct’s large green space. URA’s Master Plan 2025 counts Fort Canning with Bras Basah.Bugis and the Civic District as one set of arts and cultural districts, and plans street works to connect them into an expanded arts and cultural precinct.
The works in that plan are extended sidewalks, greenery and small public spaces along Waterloo Street, and a new cycling path along Bencoolen Street, adding to the Queen Street and Bencoolen Street enhancements already completed.
Schools and Colleges

The tertiary arts campuses are the closest: LASALLE College of the Arts is 280m from The Collective at One Sophia, the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 400m, and the University of the Arts Singapore 800m, with Singapore Management University 650m away.
For primary education, St. Margaret’s School (Primary) is 550m away on Sophia Road itself, at 136 Sophia Road, and Anglo-Chinese School (Junior) and the School of the Arts, Singapore are also close by. Priority in the Primary 1 Registration Exercise depends on the home-to-school distance MOE measures for each address, and that measurement is MOE’s to give for any unit.
URA’s Master Plan 2025 adds to the learning district: the Singapore University of Social Sciences is consolidating its campuses at the former Rochor Centre site, served by the Bugis MRT interchange.
Civic District Heritage

The Bras Basah and Bugis district beside Sophia Road is one URA set out to renew in the early 1990s, when it chose to develop Bras Basah and Bugis together as a heritage, arts and learning district, conserving historic buildings alongside new offices and shops.
The same Master Plan 2025 keeps the district on that course: the former St. Joseph’s Institution building is being studied for a new Singapore Design Museum, and the former Catholic High School buildings on Waterloo Street and Queen Street are being studied for arts, cultural and community uses.
